By far, the most frequent medicinal use of cannabis is for relieving chronic pain. And the most effective analgesic of all the 113 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant is CBD.
CBD relieves chronic pain both directly and indirectly by reducing inflammation and anxiety, relaxing muscle tension, and enhancing sleep. With chronic pain there is almost always an accompanying cycle of insomnia and anxiety. The pain increases anxiety, which then causes some degree of insomnia, and sleep-deprivation triggers more anxiety, which in turn increases pain.
CBD can break this cycle in three ways, by decreasing pain, reducing anxiety, and enhancing sleep. Even more effective for pain relief is the combination of CBD with THC in a 1:1 ratio. The THC increases the analgesic effect of the CBD, and the CBD reduces the psychoactive effect of the THC, although it is still present to some degree depending upon your level of tolerance.
If you want to eliminate any psychoactive effect, I suggest you use a CBD product containing less than 0.3% THC. I recommend either the Trill Pills capsules or the Trill Pills MCT oil in a tincture (dropper-bottle). These contain whole-plant, full spectrum hemp oil combined with either coconut oil (capsules) or MCT (medium-chain triglycerides) oil (tincture). I’ve found this product to be clean (organic; free of pesticides, heavy metals, fungi and bacteria), and consistent, meaning it contains the exact amount/dose (in milligrams – mg.) as the label indicates. The entire production process for this high-quality CBD, takes four days to complete. Trill Pills can be obtained through the website: www.trillpills.com.
Since most people suffering with chronic pain (or any chronic condition) recognize that anxiety typically increases their pain or the most uncomfortable symptom associated with their condition, I’ve repeatedly seen that anxiety reduction may CBD’s most valuable therapeutic benefit.
We’re each unique and will react a bit differently, so in order to determine the correct dose for your specific condition, you’ll need to experiment for a week or two. Trill Pills can be purchased in 10, 25, and 50mg. I suggest starting with 25mg. capsules, 2-3x/day. If you store the capsules in the freezer, you can more gradually adjust the dosage by cutting the frozen capsules in half. You need to know that CBD is quite safe with no adverse side-effects. If you take “too much” you may feel a little sleepy.
Another benefit of CBD is that if you’ve been taking prescription opioids for pain relief, CBD will make it possible to gradually reduce the dose, and in my experience, often eliminate them completely.
If CBD alone, does not relieve your pain, even with a 100mg. dose, then you should try taking a 1:1/CBD:THC product (tablets, tincture, sublingual spray, or an edible). These can only be purchased in medical marijuana dispensary. The 1:1 should first be taken alone and if it’s not sufficient, then add CBD along with it, starting with 10mg. and gradually increasing until your pain has been significantly reduced. Remember, since we’re all unique, you’ll have to determine the most effective dose for you.
