Before You Begin

First, fill out this Candida Questionnaire & Scoresheet. If your score is in the “possibly yeast-connected” range or higher, then follow the Candida Treatment (below under “Fungal Sinusitis”) in addition to the other recommendations below.

Since most people with a chronic condition have been suffering for years, a 3-month commitment to just these few daily practices, is relatively quick.  You will probably begin to see some improvement at one month or even sooner, but to realize their full healing benefit we strongly suggest you maintain the regimen for at least 3 months.

My medical school training at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine prepared me to practice Holistic (Whole Person/Body-Mind-Spirit) Medicine. However, for the first 15 years of my career in medicine, I practiced as a conventional family physician. The focus of my Family Practice just as it is today with most primary care physicians, was to quickly and simply relieve my patients’ discomfort and pain. This was usually accomplished in a brief (10-20 min) office visit that concluded with a prescription given to the patient. For acute flare-ups of an underlying chronic condition, such as low back pain, arthritis, asthma, or sinusitis, the drugs were only effective for temporarily relieving symptoms, not for treating causes or curing the problem.  And they were often accompanied by unpleasant side-effects.

In 1980, after being diagnosed with chronic sinusitis, I realized how limiting this conventional approach was.  After refusing sinus surgery (the ENT physician said he couldn’t guaranty it would cure the problem), the parting words of the sinus specialist was: “You’re going to have to live with it.” At 33, the thought of living with this misery for the rest of my life felt like a death sentence. And it became a powerful catalyst for changing the course of my life and the way I practiced medicine.

In order to cure the most common condition in the US in 1980, I realized I would have to go beyond the bounds of conventional medicine, and practice the body, mind, spirit medicine of osteopathy.

During the 40 years since that dismal prognosis, and especially since curing the chronic sinusitis in 1987, my practice has been primarily focused on treating, preventing, and curing 6 of the 10 most common chronic conditions in America.  I have written books on each of these problems – sinusitis and allergies (4 editions of the best-selling Sinus Survival), asthma (Asthma Survival), arthritis (Arthritis Survival), low back pain (Backache Survival), and migraine headache (Headache Survival).

  • Fully Alive Diet (anti-inflammatory, hypoallergenic, candida-control diet).
  • Allercide* (contains Vit. C, Quercetin, Bromelain, Nettles) – 2 caps 3x/day X 10-14 days, then 1 cap 3x/day, empty stomach

  • Stretching (10 yoga poses recommended by yoga teachers for people with low back pain).
  • CBD (Cannabidiol – Trill Pills)*** 10 or 25mg caps 2-3x/day, with or without food.
  • CBD Topical Cream (Trill Pain Relief Cream)*** — apply as needed 3-4x/day.
  • Migraine Relief Diet
  • If there is usually an aura or some warning that a migraine is about to occur (typically within the next 30-45 minutes), the most effective method for preventing the headache is to VAPORIZE***** CANNABIS (a Sativa or Hybrid strain).
  • If headaches occur more than once/week, then take Feverfew (0.25 – 0.5mg parthenolide 2x/day), Butterbur extract, Riboflavin (vitamin B2 – 400mg/day), and Magnesium (400-600mg/day) preventively. This combination will usually decrease the frequency and intensity of the migraines.
  • Repeat this affirmation several times/day: I’m always doing the best I can.  Nearly every person with migraines is to some extent a perfectionist, who hold themselves to a very high standard of performance.  They tend to be very hard on themselves, causing the stress which is often the trigger for migraines.
  • CBD (Cannabidiol – Trill Pills)*** 10 or 25mg caps 2-3x/day for prevention, and 50-100mg for treatment, with or without food.

Acute Sinusitis – Sinus Infection

  • Allimed* – 2 caps 3x/day, with or without food for 10 days, then reduce to 2 caps 2x/day for 10 days, then 1 cap 2x/day for 10 days.
  • Steam Inhaler – add Sinus Survival Eucalyptus*, Peppermint*, and Tea Tree oil; 15-20 min. 3-4x/day, followed by:
  • Nasal Irrigation
  • Sinus Survival Herbal Nasal Spray* — 2 sprays in each nostril every 2-3 hours.
  • Negative-ion generator** – place on night-stand in bedroom during the night and on your desk during the day.
  • Vitamin C (Ester C) – 3,000 – 4,000mg 3x/day, with food for 1 week, then reduce to 2000mg 3x/d.
  • Vitamin D3 – 20,000 units 2x/day, with food for 1 week, then reduce to 10,000 units 2x/d.
  • Sleep at least 8-9 hours/night.


Chronic Sinusitis

  • Fully Alive Diet (anti-inflammatory, hypoallergenic, candida-control diet).
  • Allimed* – 2 caps 2x/day, with or without food for 20 days, then reduce to 1 cap 2x/day for 30 days, then 1 cap daily 2 months.
  • Steam Inhaler – add Sinus Survival Eucalyptus*, Peppermint,* and Tea Tree oil; 15-20 min. 2-3x/day, followed by:
  • Nasal Irrigation
  • Sinus Survival Herbal Nasal Spray* — 2 sprays in each nostril every 4-6 hours. Apply peppermint oil to outside of nostrils following spray.
  • Negative-ion generator** – place on night-stand in bedroom during the night and on your desk during the day.
  • SinuThyme* – 1 cap 3x/day, empty stomach.
  • Vitamin C (Ester C) – 3,000mg 2x/day, with food for 1 month, then reduce to 2000mg 2x/d.
  • Vitamin D3 – 10,000 units 2x/day, with food for 2 weeks, then reduce to 5,000 units 2x/d.
  • Sleep at least 7-8 hours/night.


Fungal Sinusitis – The majority of chronic sinus sufferers have some degree of fungal sinusitis.  If your score on the Candida Questionnaire is in the “Possibly yeast-connected” range or higher, I’d suggest adding the following to the Chronic Sinusitis regimen:

  • Allimed* – 2 caps 3x/day, with or without food for 20 days, then reduce to 1 cap 3x/day for 1 month, then 1 cap 2x/day for 2 months, then 1 daily.
